The Sun entered Cancer on Father’s Day 6/20 at 8:32pm pst.

A new phase is upon us as Cancer marks the start of Summer! A time of expression, radiance and warmth. I hope you all spent Summer Solstice (the longest day of the year) celebrating in ways that felt revitalizing and nurturing!

Aries initiates action & inspiration kicking off Spring, when we move into the next quarter (Summer) - Cancer gives birth with the aim to care for and protect whatever we’ve brought to fruition. When we talked about Aries season, I referenced the experience of the new baby (you can go back & check Aries Season post). Cancer season would be the experience of the new mother. Although everything is foreign on a practical level, a mothers body and instinct is already connected, familiar & ready to provide for the new life created. All of her memories, ancestral wisdom, and senses kick in & her body feels and responds to the baby’s every need without having to even think about it. And even with all this, she too is new, needing support and care as she navigates many changing emotions, a new identity, a new life.

This is what this season is all about: nursing the things/relations that we’ve manifested, experiencing and moving through our emotions, tapping in with our roots, ancestral wisdom & our memories for guidance & comfort and cultivating a sense of home & security be that literally or figuratively. Spend time with family and close friends, grow something, let others know how you feel and protect your essence/energy/space.

As Mercury begins to move direct again, allowing for ease in communication & our day to day functioning, Jupiter begins it’s retrograde (separate post coming) prompting us to review and renew our faith and connect back to our internal resources & abundance, which all feels very fitting in the season of cultivation! The earlier days of Cancer season bestow upon us some unique wisdom as the Sun hits a crossroad with teacher/healer Chiron and makes some tender connections to Jupiter ℞ in Pisces & Uranus in Taurus. Later, we’ll find ourselves on the seesaw of Pluto ℞ in Capricorn & the Sun in Cancer with Neptune in Pisces supporting on the sideline - bringing us a little closer to the integration and balance of work & home, logic & intuition, discipline & nurturance, structure & ambiguity etc.

Some things that can surface during this season are neediness, codependency, erratic emotions, secrecy & resentments. Make space and time for talks about feelings & boundaries if necessary, try your best not to suppress your emotions, let them flow. Put yourself in spaces you feel seen/heard & safe enough to be open and vulnerable. This will keep you from falling victim to the waves.
